Tonight was the seventh Dave Kelly Live show and the theme was Father's. It was such a beautiful night with many stories of how our Dads are an important part of making a family a family.

I was blessed to be able to have my family take up the whole front row. In this lovely front row was my very own Father, here all the way from Ottawa.

As Dave's sidekick I was given 5 minutes to talk to the audience about my Dad. I don't really remember what I said as it was a bit of a blur, but I can tell you he taught me many many lessons - I think I may have mentioned some of these.

  • Family above all else.
  • Measure twice. Cut once.
  • If you are going to do something, do it right.
  • You need to know the rules before you can break the rules.
  • All you really have is your name. Treat it with respect.

I also mentioned that his greatest legacy were the people in the front row with him. Four successful sons with great wives and beautiful children. That's the true measure of a man, his family. And my Dad can take any other Dad in that category cause I have the worlds best family.

Yes, even including my little brother that pissed on my back from the top bunk in 1979. I still remember...but more on him another time.

Band of Brothers
