For a while we were skeptical that we would be given permission by the Oncologist to venture down to Fernie, but alas numbers looked good and away we went. Left on the 23rd and today it’s the 26th and we are heading home.
Unfortunately there wasn’t great skiing so we did family things like walks, saw Star Wars at the Vogue Theatre, of course did present openings and had friends over for a beautiful turkey dinner.
So nice to spend quality time with the Grandparents and the kids. And the kids were able to catch up on sleep after exams.
These are the most special of times. I may be getting soft but I found tears welling up at the most unlikely moments. They were tears of joy each time and they always snuck up on me. The most obscure being an emotional scene at the end of Star Wars. Ya, that’s right, Star Wars. What the hell?!?
In fairness it had little to do with the movie and everything to do with sitting beside my son watching the film.
And leading up to the movie Tracey, Jack Amanda and I were having a nice walk in town, buying even more unicorn stocking stuffers, we ran into MBF and his brother, it was a picturesque small town moment that just reminded me how lucky I was. I was emotionally charged. And I have been all week!
Fernie. Family.Friends. So F’n good.
