Sometimes my blog posts are determined by a series of questions I receive from different people.
Like today’s post for example.
In the last two weeks I have been asked many many times where I am at with my cancer treatment. It’s at these times that it becomes apparent to me that I have a gap in my blog posts. I’m posting enough but recently I haven’t updated you on my treatment and where it’s at.
But before I get to the explanation please enjoy this musical interlude ‘Where it’s At’ by Beck. This song is one of our favourite family songs. Where it’s At has been played in the car as our destination arrival song when the group of us travel. It means we’ve arrived and ready to play. Enjoy.
I hope you enjoyed the musical interlude brought to you by Beck!
As for my treatment I am still on Cabozantinib and have been since August 11, 2019. During these seven months I have taken three breaks and have altered dose amount on many occasions.
When I was taking 40 mg of Cabo I developed quite painful neuropathy resulting in a two week break. When I restarted I was taking a 60 mg pill every two days but also found the side effects to be too arduous, so we switched to 60 mg pills every three days (replicating 20 mgs per day), but the high dose of 60 mgs was too much even though I had a two day break post pill swallow.
Fortunately by this time the drug had become available in 20 mg pills. I have been on 20 mg for three months and while I have a bunch of annoying side effects it is tolerable.
And by tolerable I mean I’ll keep doing it if it’s working. If not then I doubt I’d undertake this strain on my body.
I am having a CT scan later in March and will know more about the efficacy of the daily Cabozantinib treatment.
Thanks for asking.
