For two months I have had pains that have moved around from my back to my abdomen and to the back again. The pain is mostly a dull, just got punched in the kidney, kinda pain. Every once in a while the pain is more like an abdominal cramp. Either way, it’s something I’ve been dealing with for many years but lately it is showing itself more often and with more verve.
A month ago I got a blood test and while the majority of results were pretty normal my Alc/Phosphate, which usually hovers around 60, was riding high at 360. Spoke with my Oncologist and our plan was to wait two weeks and do another blood test.
On January 13th, for an exciting birthday experience, I went and got another lab test. While sitting in the lab waiting I knew something was up as I was in a good deal of pain but I needed to wait till the results to determine cause. Unfortunately it took nine days to get the results and they showed that my Lipase was now up over 1,000. That’s very high.
Went into the lab again today as I am convinced I am dealing with a partial blockage somewhere in either my pancreatic or bile ducts.
I have contacted my GI Doc to give him a heads up. HIs suggestion, which matches what the Oncologist has said, is that I most likely have blockage somewhere and it will either be discovered in an upcoming CT Scan on Feb 8th (which depending on results from today may move forward) or we may have to do another endoscopy or ERCP to confirm.
My opinion is that if we don’t get ahead of this blockage the odds are pretty good that I will end up in emergency one of these days. Which is why I am pushing hard with tests and follow up calls. I tend to have a good sense of my system now and my system is saying dark winds are on the horizon.
