It’s always difficult to assess the success of a surgery the next day but I have a feeling this one was pretty good. At least the surgical team felt it was a success so that counts as a win in my mind.
I am still out of sorts in the abdomen but I haven’t had much in the way of pain today, so to me that’s a very good sign in 24 hours.
At this juncture I need to again express my thanks to the Peter Lougheed Centre GI team for their amazing work and positive attitude! They fricken ended up putting a stent inside of the other stent. Imagine that, they run a cable all through my esophagus thru my belly and up to the common bile duct. Inspect it, clean it and then put a stent inside another stent to get the flow back in the duct.
Amazing.
Here are a few photos to show you the gunk that was blocking the passage. The one on the left shows the gunk built up, the middle photo shows partial image of the stent and the third image shows the stent in action.
Gross but cool right?!?🤣
