Flight Carry On

When I fly I rarely get to just do ‘carry on’ as I have so many drugs and lotions that I need to check a bag. Because of this my backpack is very efficiently packed and nicely compartmentalized as I leave the superfluous junk in my checked bags. I’ve gotten very good at packing a tight backpack for a 4-5 hour trip.

And this week I’m doing essentially three trips where I am sitting in a seat and sustaining myself with what I have put in my pack.

Headphones and ear buds, downloaded movies, two books, phone charger, pretzels, sliced fruit, a muffin, slices of cheese and a few slices of luncheon meats. I wear comfortable loose clothing a sweater and away I go…

To the hospital for transfusions!!

This week I’ve been in a hospital chair and received two bags of blood to help raise my low hemoglobin levels, followed by two days of iron transfusions to help the newfound blood build up its own red blood cells full of juicy energy. Throwing in a quick CT scan in-between for good measure - quick CT meaning it’s not the four to five hours with an IV attached to your arm.

Sitting in the chair may not seem as thrilling as flying but I can tell you that at the end of these three five hour chair rides I sense the outcome would be better than any plane trip I could take.

And the service is undeniably better! #nursesarethebest
