JIM BUTTON,

Pancreatitis

I think I have pancreatitis. My stomach is cramping, my back is very sore, mainly the right side. My belly is tender. I have diahhrea, but I guess I’ve had that for a while, it’s just different I guess.

These are all the signs I recognize from years of dealing with it. I eat food and get instant pain. So I lie on the couch or bed to give the inflamed pancreas a break and refrain from eating for a bit.

Certainly not a long term solution so I’ve sent a note to the oncologist requesting they put a Lipase test on my standing order and I’ll go in to confirm and see how high my levels are.

Stand by.

UPDATE 10:57 am

I just did some research on side effects of IV Iron and see cramps, back pain, diarrhea and joint pain on the list. Now the question is whether this can still occur two weeks later. I’ve had the cramps for two weeks, as well as back pain but the pain has certainly intensified.

I still believe it’s pancreatitis but will check into both.

Stand by.

UPDATE: Monday 4pm

Feeling way better, not sure what happened to take the pain away. Got lab test today and will want we can discover. Also learned that after two weeks I wouldn’t be feeling those symptoms as a result of IV iron. Back to pancreatitis.

UPDATE: Thursday 1pm

Pain back, haha, see what I did there. Pain. In my back. And abdomen. Still waiting for results.

Interesting question, if we come to the conclusion/guess that the common bile duct stent is clogged will I even be able to get the GI procedure given the overloaded medical system.

Things that make you go hmmm, ouch.

UPDATE: Friday, 10am

Results show that my Lipase is outside the acceptable range but not by much. And certainly not where I have been in the past.

Just going to sit on it for a while and see what transpires.

Thanks for listening.

UPDATE: Oct 6, 9:30 am

Had a terrible night of intense pain and lots of really stinky gas. I’ve been here before and am pretty certain I have a partially blocked common bile duct. Heading into Oncologist office right now to discuss options.
